Hotels should embody the cultural landscape of their location, offering an authentic representation of the national values and aesthetics to visitors while simultaneously allowing natives to express their identity freely, thus creating opportunities for meaningful communication and connection between different groups of people. The architectural envelope should be designed to further reflect the history of the country, through use of materiality, use of public versus private ,and spacial proportions.
Mirage aims to create a safe environment for people predominantly from the Middle East & North Africa (MENA). The Ground floor is a grocery market that wraps around the Syrian-influenced courtyards. The ground floor focuses on intimacy and dialogue between the visitors and the sellers. The second floor is a restaurant that serves authentic MENA food and contrary to the ground floor, the goal is to create private gatherings for family & friends.
We often associate factories with machinery, but when it comes to jewelry, even with the technological advances, hundreds of skilled hands delicately craft the precious gems and stones to create our jewelry. This project is designed to honor the most precious tool: their hands.
